I need trashy reality T.V. sometimes.
I’m a big fan of terrible, “trashy” reality television.
Although these shows are the visual entertainment equivalent of eating Spam (and not even in delicious musubi form), they serve a very real purpose for me. Reality T.V. helps me decompress. It’s my background noise for when I’m burned out on being thoughtful, serious, or creative. I don’t have to be “on” when I watch it. I can just exist in a blanket of mediocrity and questionable decision-making.
Lately, I’ve been watching Love Is Blind Season 9 on Netflix and — wow, it’s… rough. Unwatchable in parts. During one particularly strange scene, a contestant who will remain nameless actually kissed and sucked on the floor, somewhat tenderly I might add. I laughed, but then my brain immediately went, you know what, this deserves a short animation.
So I made one.
While this was cooking, I’ve also been putting the finishing touches on my upcoming book Vèvè-Punk: Birth of the Dream, which I’m aiming to release by Christmas. It’s a collection of short stories and illustrations drawn from the larger Vèvè-Punk universe. Pre-order links should be live by mid-November, so keep an eye out.
